In Jefferson Parish, they've turned the clocks back, all the way to the back of the bus.
First-term Jefferson Parish school board member Ellen Kovach led a call last week to all parents of school-age children, to remind them that Daylight Savings time has ended.

“It’s important that all of you remember to turn your clocks back to 1971,” Kovach said, the year in which a federal court order mandated a change in the parish school’s racial makeup.

Failure to do so, Kovach said, may result in miscommunications between students and their respective schools, and may cause scheduling confusions.

The bus won't be there for a long, long time.

“You’d hate to leave your child at the school bus stop at what you think is 7am,” Kovach added, “only to find out that you’re child is 35 years too early. The bus won’t be there for a long, long time."

“And from what I’m told,” Kovach added, “you’re neighborhood is dangerous. I know I’d never leave my kid out there alone. Not that we’d ever be over there in the first place.
