As Trent Bodenheimer sipped his first Bud Light of the evening and settled into his plaza-level end zone seat twenty-seven rows back from the Superdome playing field, his mood turned contemplative.
“With all I heard about what went on in this place,” Bodenheimer began, swirling a nacho in a pool of melted cheese, “odds are probably good somebody up and died right here where I’m sitting.”
His wife, Louisa Bodenheimer, clad in an oversized black Drew Brees jersey, nodded in agreement. “We’ve got friends sitting on the terrace level right where that guy jumped to his death,” she said. “You get a good view of the game up there.”

Trent Bodenheimer of Opelousas may wonder who died in his seat, but he's not going to let it ruin the U2 set.

Residents of Opelousas, the Bodenheimers have not been back to New Orleans since August 26, 2005, the date of the last Saints home game before the storm, a preseason matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. That they have chosen to return for the re-opening of the Dome is a testament to their resiliency.
“We’ve held these season tickets since back when Bobby Hebert quarterbacked the team,” Bodenheimer said. “We’re not gonna let the thought of twenty thousand people huddled in their own excrement interfere with our undying support of the Saints. This could be the year.”
Louisa Bodenheimer excused herself. “I need to use the ladies’ room. I heard that’s where they raped all those babies.”
“While you’re up,” Bodenheimer called out to his wife, “get me another beer.”
